Using Opsview Agent with Nagios

Hi

I hope this is the right place to post.  Sorry if not.

We use Opsview to monitor our application and the servers they reside on.  We have a customer who host their servers with a 3rd party hosting company who uses Nagios.  I understand it is possible to use the Nagios agent with Opsview because I've already checked that with Opsview Support but I need to know if it's possible to do the reverse.  We've supplied this hosting company with Virtual Machine Templates to deploy our application and those templates already have the Opsview Agent installed.  The hosting company use Nagios to monitor.  Can they hook up to the Opsview Agent that is already installed or do they need to run the Nagios one on a different port?

Regards

Bryn

Re: Using Opsview Agent with Nagios

he bryn,

Yes that will work without issue, the only thing they might run into is that the opsview-agent by default uses encryption and some nagios install might not have been compiled with support for this.

But in general the opsview-agent is just the nagios nrpe agent but with some extra plugins and some configuration changes (like the encryption).

hope this helps,

Alan

Re: Using Opsview Agent with Nagios

Hi Alan

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Just taking that a little bit further, would it be possible to run the Opsview and Nagios agents together on the same server but change the listen port?
