MS SQL Server & Counter Problems

Hello,

i have just installed and configured OPSVIEW Core and encountered some problems.

First ist about monitoring a MS SQL Server. Most of the MS SQL Services says 'Return code of 111 is out of bound'.
I tried running it per SSH:

root@opsview:/usr/local/nagios/libexec# ./check_mysql_performance -H <SQL-Server> -u <Domäne>\Administrator -p <passwort> --perfdata Connections,Max_used_connections

Goto undefined subroutine &Carp::shortmess_real at /usr/share/perl/5.10/Carp.pm line 41.

Support-man S. Close told me:
Reason is that the system perl Carp is very old and the plugin should be using the one in /opt/opsview/perl/lib/perl5. I have seen situations where either the compatibility link in /usr/local/nagios/perl is not linked through to /opt/opsview/perl, or it could be a permissions problem on /opt/opsview/perl

How can i fix that?

Second is "Disk Queue: CRIT: Counter not found: \\PhysicalDisk(0 C:)\\Avg. Disk Read Queue Length: Die Verbindung mit dem angegebenen Computer kann entweder nicht hergestellt werden oder der Computer ist offline. (800007D0)".

Ist this a problem with the german description (Physikalischer Datenträger) or is this an other problem?

Thanks in advance

Re: MS SQL Server & Counter Problems

Im using check_mysql_performance and havent seen any issues:

$ /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_mysql_performance -H ov-dev-61 -u root -p password --metricname=Aborted_connects -w 20 -c 30 MONITORED BY: master RETURN CODE: 0 (OK) OUTPUT:  MYSQL_PERFORMANCE OK - MySQL metric-Aborted_connects = 0 | Aborted_connects=0;;   Is the syntax correct for your plugin version?   Sam

Re: MS SQL Server & Counter Problems

Theres no difference. Still "Goto undefined subroutine &Carp::shortmess_real at /usr/share/perl/5.10/Carp.pm line 41.".

I don't know which version it is, it comes with OPS View (3.20130522.0) i guess.

Re: MS SQL Server & Counter Problems

Is the intention to use this as a trial, to buying Pro/Enterprise? If so - its probably easier to download the virtual appliance to save time and problems with Perl versions.

No, we want to use the Core version. Is there no way to fix this?

Re: MS SQL Server & Counter Problems

Hello Lukas,

I had the same problem, in my case it was because the Carp perl module was outdated (the one shipped with Debian Squeeze) and i had to update it:

root@server# perl -MCPAN -e 'shell' Terminal does not support AddHistory. cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.9402) Enter 'h' for help. cpan[1]> install Carp

Now i'm using version 1.32 of the Carp module and everything works, hope this works for you too!

Regards,

Alfa.
