For most organisations that use cloud computing today, the base shippable unit of code is the application. Cloud applications are now gradually modernised on several fronts. Asynchronous frameworks like Node.js provide proven structureal armatures and promote cide re-use. Infrastructure-as-code discipline, continuous integration, deployment automation accelerate releases. Containerisation enables dependency isolation, component immutability, workload compactness, infrastructure streamlining and fast starts; while container orchestration provides high availability, autoscaling, infrastructure federation and other benefits.
