Euro 2016 - the Teams and Players to Monitor
As well as keeping an eye on the performance of your IT infrastructure, why not take a few minutes to check out the European Championships. Monitor everything from goals to red cards, and track the winning nation all the way to European glory.
At Opsview we fancy ourselves as quite the football experts, so here are a few teams and players that we think are worth monitoring at Euro 2016.
The hosts. The favourites. Two time winners of the tournament. What else is there to say? A squad packed full of exciting talent with no obvious weaknesses. We can certainly see them going all the way to the final.
The player to monitor – Paul Pogba
Now this lad can play. Arguably the most wanted player in world football, Pogba burst on to the scene with Juventus in 2012, and has since racked up 178 appearances for the Old Lady. If Euro 2016 is your tech market, then Pogba is your hoverboard. Powerful yet elegant, and highly sought after.
Few countries have contributed so much to technology as Germany, and the same can be said for football. The current champions of the World, this Germany side can play. As all things German, this side is highly efficient, well organised and extremely polished. A team comprised completely of world stars and the most composed penalty takers on the planet. Germany are a world leader in technology, and there is no doubt the same applies to football. At worst they will reach the semis.
The player to monitor - Thomas Muller
This guy sums up everything that is great about the German National team. At the mere age of 26, he has already slotted 32 goals for his country. In the tech world he is Artificial Intelligence itself. Incredible knowledge of the game, with an absolute engine that never runs out of steam.
At the turn of the century, Belgium simply did not exist as a force in European football. The re-building job began in 2008, and since then the Red Devils have not turned back as they now possess one of the best line-ups in world football. The team are slightly lacking in the full back area, and are a world class centre forward away from European domination. Despite this, they are definitely worth monitoring as they look to progress to the latter stages of the competition.
The player to monitor - Kevin De Bruyne
Any of you sysadmins in need of some Intelligent Personal Assistant software? Kevin De Bruyne is your man. The playmaker is at the heart of the Belgium national side. This guy can really pick a pass – creating 189 goal scoring opportunities in his last 59 club games. He really loves an assist.
Now if any of you readers follow football, you will understand that this is a bit of a rogue call, but hear us out. Any team who can boast an elite midfield duo of Real Madrid’s key deep lying playmaker, and Barcelona’s box to box engine is a team to be taken very seriously, and this is just the case for Croatia. Throw in a Champions League winning striker and a handful of European wonder kids, this is starting to look like a recipe for success. They are our dark horses for the Championship.
The player to monitor – Luka Modric
Alongside fellow centre-mid partner, Ivan Rakitic, this guy is world class. An elegant and composed component of this Croatian side, expect to see him dominating the midfield all over France.
Who do you think will stand out at the European Championships this summer? Pick a side and monitor your team all the way to the trophy.
