Opsview Crowbar Barclamp?

Hi,

Not sure if the opsview  project team is aware of a cloud provisioning tool called Crowbar which was originally created by Dell, but has since gone opensource and enjoys a great deal of support from SUSE, and some reasonable support from ubuntu ..

As standard, crowbar ships with nagios and ganglia embedded in it and fully integrated in the process of provisioning new nodes .. and new nodes are auto-provisioned as monitored nodes in nagios and ganglia.  I think that is a most useful feature to have.

It would be nice to have a barclamp (Crowbar's terminology for chef cookbooks and databags) for opsview.  This is something I would be interested in looking closer at working on in the near future.

Just curious to ask if this is something the opsview team have considered, and if there are other on-going efforts towards creating chef cookbooks or crowbar barclamps ..

Re: Opsview Crowbar Barclamp?

Nothing on the immediate horizon at the moment. We have Puppet integration and this has been ported by users in the past to Chef quite easily. If you want to have a go at it yourself using the REST API to register hosts in, etc then the links are here: http://docs.opsview.com/doku.php?id=opsview-core:restapi

Good luck!
