Opsview guest access

How do I allow anonymous guest access to opsview?

I have created a contact call guest, have given it view all, change none role access, have edited the /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg file and edited the default user line to uncomment and specify this guest user. Restarted opsview-web httpd but still having issues.

Is there a process to configure Opsview in this way? I understand the security concerns around unauthorised access to Opsview but I am happy with network security of this box.

Thanks.

Re: Opsview guest access

Hi,

The best way to display status to unauthenticated users is to create Keywords and make them 'public' via the settings page on that particular keyword. Plenty of Opsview users do this, universities in particular.

Best,

Sam

Re: Opsview guest access

Thank you for you suggestion and it is something I need to look further into is keywords.

Is there a way though to provide access to hosts/host groups and allow the user to browse around the monitoring tab?

With Nagios there is a default_user_name directive in its cgi.cfg file that can facilitate this and then you can configure desired roles for this default user.

Thanks,

Jonathan
