Opsview 4.5 backup failure

Just to let you know of a defect that was raised to us yesterday.

In Opsview 4.5.0, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2, the backup script will fail when executing for the runtime database. This is due to an error where the parameter for the daily backup had been removed by mistake.   There is no UI to display this error. If configured, a user may receive an email via the cron job with the following output: root@hostname# /usr/local/nagios/bin/rc.opsview backup Usage: /usr/local/nagios/bin/db_runtime [-h <host>] {db_export|db_import|db_install}

The workaround is to apply this patch to /usr/local/nagios/bin/db_runtime:

Index: bin/db_runtime =================================================================== --- bin/db_runtime (revision 16341) +++ bin/db_runtime (working copy) @@ -746,6 +746,9 @@ db_backup) db_backup ;; + db_daily_backup) + db_daily_backup + ;; db_backup_inline) db_backup_inline ;;

The impact is that the nightly Runtime backup invoked by Opsview will not run.   See the documentation at for more information about backups provided by Opsview, and what backups you should have setup locally.   This will be fixed in a future 4.5.3 release and we've put unit tests in place to catch issues like this in future.
