keywords, dashboard query

My organisation has decided to implement a standard set of tags to be used across all corporate systems, be they inventory, helpdesk or monitoring. They are basically <service name> and <environment> so we have SharePoint, Email, etc along with Live, Dev and Test environments. This means that I'm having to use multiple keywords for the various checks in Opsview - SharePoint, Live and SharePoint, Dev for example.

As you've probably already deduced, this means that the dashboard instantly became pretty useless as the SharePoint status would be flagged as critical when a SharePoint Test server was taken down. To maintain usability in the immediate term, I reverted to using my original keywords of SharepointLive, SharepointTest etc so that I could differentiate between the live and non live environments.

So, eventually, my question is this - is it possible to combine keywords (say SharePoint + Live) to produce a single status on the dashboard for the live Sharepoint environment. I'm happy leaving the Live, Test and Dev environments being flagged seperately on the dashboard.

Hope this is reasonably well explained!

NB We're running the current Enterprise version (4.4.1) on a single RHEL host with 700 monitored hosts and 5000 monitored services.

Thanks, Sam

Re: keywords, dashboard query

Hi Sam,

We have a new feature called 'BSM' coming out in 4 weeks time that should achieve this for you - essentially its a keyword hierarchy, with better logic, features, visuals, etc. There will be some marketing communications sent out in the coming weeks around this - but essentially it can achieve what you are looking to do.

Best,

Sam
