no notifications - not an email issue

Hello everyone,

Got an odd issue where I am getting alerts emailed to me without an issue and there is no problem from what I can tell with alerting.

But.......

I see no notifications for one service check. If I look at the alert history for the service (/usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log) I can see that the process it is monitoring has been down twice. Which I also know since the users saw it blow down.

However if I look at the "View Notifications for this service" or again in /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log there are no notifications. But I know the service logged a critical state which I should be notified for.

It actually says: No notifications have been recorded for this service in the current log file

What am I missing here? I suspect it might be something obvious........

I get another notifications for other services on the same host.

Thanks

Re: no notifications - not an email issue

Well I can narrow this issue down a little further.

It only occurs for one of our hosts. That is, the same service check applied to another host records and sends notifications without an issue.

At this point I might just drop the host and re-create it.

Are you using slaves? What version of Opsview is this?

Re: no notifications - not an email issue

Hi Smarsh,

Opsview Core 3.20131016.0

Not sure where my previous posts to this thread have gone. But I fixed it by basically re-creating the service check even though the service check when applied to other hosts worked fine.

Thanks

Re: no notifications - not an email issue

Hi Smarsh,

In my case it is Opsview Core 3.20131016.0 and I am not using slaves.

I found my own solution to the issue. Which eneded up being to drop the entire host check and re-create it from scratch adding back the custom checks and inbuilt checks as required.

Thanks,

Paul
