A system administrator, or SysAdmin, is a person who is responsible for ensuring that computer systems are up and running reliably. SysAdmins are also responsible for the maintenance, configuration, installation, uptime, performance, resources and security of the computer systems that they manage to ensure that the computer system meets the needs and demands of the business, users and customers.
SysAdmins are the backbone of corporate IT. They’re the people who work very hard, often behind the scenes, to keep corporate computer systems up and running 24×7x365. Typically these are the people who look after server and desktop hardware, virtualization software, operating systems and networks. However some also work at the application level, looking after application runtimes or administering applications such as email systems and CRM systems. Being a SysAdmin is a tough job!

To meet the ever growing demands and needs on business computer systems, a SysAdmin may acquire, install or upgrade computer systems and software. In response to that high growth in technology, the number of SysAdmins as well as the requirement to ensure that your customer systems are always available will also grow exponentially.
The most sure fire way to do this is to have a dedicated resource that can identify a problem, fix it, and make sure it proactively does not happen again. For that, a System Administrator is the best bet to go with in 2015.
