Unable to use CentOS Repo for Pro
Hi there,
We've been testing out some of the core features of Core, and decided to trial the Pro variant.
Signed up for the trial, got the Entitlement, but everytime we try to use the repo to download and install the repo kicks back a 401. Strange thing is, I know the password is correct, but everytime I try to log in to opsview.com I actually have to have the password reset! (I'm forgetful but not that forgetful).
Any ideas?
Hi Duncs,
URL is: (sanitized of course!)
Is the username you are using the same username you used to sign up for the trial? Where it is saying the "URL is incorrect"? Can you post the terminal output, etc.
Yep, all credentials are correct - it's the same username I use for the forums/account/pro-trial.
{code}
"yum clean all" and then "yum update"? Also are you following the instructions here, http://docs.opsview.com/doku.php?id=opsview4.1:centos-installation
Rpmforge installed?
I doubt this is a case of missing RPMs or even a lack of updates (though I have just run a yum update just to be sure). The opsview.repo URL is returning a 401 Unauthorized.
As a result, yum can't read the xml metadata and the install fails.
Out of curiosity, I tried connecting to the repo URL via a standard web browser and enter the credentials manually - no joy still get a 401.
It would suggest that the credentials I have are either:
not correct (unlikely as they are the same as the credentials I used for www.opsview.com - as mentioned in the wiki)
not being parsed correctly by yum/browser or the remote server
not stored or accessible by the remote server to validate my connection
Regards
Paul,
I've checked your account and its all set up on our side.
I'll reset your password later today and try it out on one of our servers to see where the problem might be
Duncs
Hi Duncs,
Thanks for looking into this!
Just a heads up, I went to log in to www.opsview.com this morning (to reply to your post) and the site didn't recognise my username or password (despite it not being changed by my since yesterday afternoon).
If it helps, the time stamps are around 08:58 and 09:15
I suspect that the inability for me to be able to consistenly log in to the site and the repo may be related?
Regards
Paul,
Can you confirm this is all using the account 'paul_barnes' for both the repo access and the web site access?
Duncs
Hi Duncs,
Confirmed - all using paul_barnes for both site and repo access....
Paul,
I've just reset your password and tried it out, and it works for me here direct to the repo's. Your new password will arrive in an email direct to you.
Duncs
Hi Duncs,
That seems to work - I've managed to connect to the repo (at last!) - as an added bonus, www.opsview.com didn't complain about not recognising my username or password when trying to login :-)
Looking good so far - if I get stuck, I'll let you know!
Regards
Hey I am getting same Error Is there problem from your side ??????
I have the same error! I can logon fine to your website, but cannot use the Repo. Thanks
I've reset your password and can see not issues that side of things.
Can you confirm when you started a trial of the commercial software? At the moment I cannot find your trial entitlement.
You don't need a password to access the core repoasitories.
Duncs
Hello
I have the same problem, and show the following errror:
Again, I've reset your password to ensure thre isn't a problem there.
Can you please confirm what account you;ve registered until for a pro trial as I haven't found one under your email address or username yet.
As mentioned previously, the Opsview Core repositories can be accessed without a password and the documentation is at: http://docs.opsview.org/doku.php?id=opsview-core#installation_and_initial_configuration
Duncs
Hello
thanks,
DONE
Best Regards
Hello,
I've got the exact same problem - this is definitely something repeatable on OpsView's end... there must be a solution other than having to change the password all the time...
https://ntso_oleg:<password>@downloads.opsview.com/opsview-commercial/la... [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 22 - "The requested URL returned error: 401"
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: opsview. Please verify its path and try again
By the way I tried changing "$basearch" to "x86_64" -> no change
Also tried entering WRONG password to see if error message changes -> no change
Also tried opening same link in web browser, and I get "Authentication Required" pop-up box - if I enter my credentials there, it clears and presents it again, as if it didn't like my credentials. See image below.
Thanks.
Never mind - I know what happened. The CentOS Install instructions should say as step #2:
2. AFTER registering for account, ADD a TRIAL ENTITLEMENT (Pro, etc.), and fill out all required info, then submit.
That was causing my error (and the other users before me, probably). After adding 'Pro' version to my cart and filling out the necessary forms and submitting them, I was able to copy the link to the browser and the "Authentication Required" box didn't pop up anymore. Yay!
I tried running "yum update" (where the error was previously stopping it) - and it worked!
On with the install...

Can you please post the URL you are using in your yum repo.list file?
