IT/Infrastructure Services Consultant (Boston, MA)

Role Description

The role is predominately focused on our Opsview product suite. You will be responsible for implementing Opsview at customer sites and remotely from Opsview’s offices, providing expert technical guidance to customers and dealing with technical issues and queries. You will also be expected to deliver a small number of short training courses as well as provide ad hoc pre-sales and post-sales assistance.

Training will be provided in Opsview and other open source tools, but prior knowledge of these or similar products would be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, implementation, configuration and support of Opsview systems for customers
• Provide customer training using our Opsview standard training material
• Presales technical support and product demos
• Ensure support SLAs and client expectations are met (or exceeded)

Required skills:

• 3+ years of technical consulting experience
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Science
• Linux/Unix expertise
• Development and debugging of Unix shell scripts
• Expertise in MySQL system administration
• Source code control (preferably Subversion)
• IP networking and troubleshooting experience

Desired skills:

• System management tools experience
• Familiarity with the Perl programming language
• Puppet (system configuration management) experience
• Working knowledge of Open Source virtualisation technologies such as KVM
• Prior experience of working in small teams

You must be a high energy self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and comfortable working within a framework of objectives without the need for day to day guidance and direction. This position will involve travel to customer offices both within and outside of the US.
